In Vitro Analyses and Prioritization of Toxic Chemicals
DLH research scientists Matthew Bridge and Marjo Smith are among the authors of an article in Environmental Health Perspectives that describes an approach for toxicity testing of the large numbers of chemicals in commerce that lack toxicological assessment that moves away from animal studies toward less expensive and higher-throughput in vitro methods. The study’s tiered testing to identify and characterize mitochondrial toxicants may reduce animal use in toxicological testing.
