Gene-Environment Interactions Influence Asthma Diagnosis and Severity
DLH research scientists W. Braxton Jackson II and John McGrath are among the authors of an article in Scientific Reports that describes a study that examined the effect of gene-environment interactions on the incidence and severity of asthma using data from the Environmental Polymorphisms Registry. Results show that asthma patients with a specific genetic profile exhibit more intense symptoms following exposure to traffic pollution. Other authors of the article include researchers from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and Rice University.
